Winklebury Playing Fields - open space windfall funding

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has given councils within England, additional funding for open spaces and parks.

This additional funding amounts to a one-off contribution of £27,500 per council which can be spent on either day-to-day maintenance costs, essential playground repairs or the creation of new green spaces.

Having assessed a number of potential opportunities and subject to public consultation, the council is considering the development of a new park facility within Winklebury Playing Fields. The ward is short of informal open space and carrying out improvements would benefit the area and support some of the ideas and issues raised in the Winklebury Community Plan.

In order to make sure that the final design considers the views of local residents who may use the space or be affected by it, we would like to get your views on what the space might look like and what it might include.

Following on from the consultation, all comments will be considered and a final design drawn up. It is anticipated that the new facility will be completed by the end of March 2020.

We have drafted a sketch showing what the area could look like, however, this is purely to give some idea of the scale of the project and what might be provided for £27,500. The final layout of the park will consider the comments provided to this consultation, taking on board appropriate suggestions and ideas. It should be noted that it will not be possible to include all suggestions.

If you would like to contribute to the layout of this new park area, please complete the short survey (see link below).
