Welcome to the governor pages in which you can find out more about who the governors are and how they work with the school.

Every school is required to have a governing body and school governors are drawn from different parts of the community.  This helps to ensure that the governing body has sufficient diversity of views and experience but doesn't mean that governors of a particular category 'represent' that group on the governing body or report back to them.  At any time, our governing body will have a mix of each of these types of governors:

  • Parent - elected by parents and serve a term of four years.
  • Staff - elected by the staff of Castle Hill Primary School.
  • Foundation
  • Partnership
  • Local authority - appointed by Hampshire County Council.
  • Co-opted

All governors have the same roles and responsibilities once part of the governing body. The Governing Body has a general responsibility for the strategic management of the school and decides its curriculum policy. Individual governors contribute their experience and knowledge through meetings of the Governing Body and committees.
